Amy Tong

Professional Family Historian

I still remember that first rush of adrenaline I got from putting a little microfiche into a reader at my local library, my Mum by my side, as we spotted my grandmother's name on the screen.  I was 12 years old.  That was the moment I was hooked on family history.  Since that day, over 30 years ago, I have been passionately pursuing family history research for my own interest, and to help others.

I have completed the Diploma of Family History at the University of Tasmania, as well as a Certificate in Genetic Genealogy by the University of Strathclyde.  I also have a Bachelor of Arts and a Graduate Diploma in Science Psychology from the University of Sydney.

I have extensive experience in both online and archival document research including births, deaths and marriage records, church records, census records, shipping and migration, historic newspaper articles, and DNA mapping.  I have particular experience with records in Australia, New Zealand, and the British Isles.

I have also worked as a professional photographer for over 10 years so I can assist you in restoring your old photographs digitally via Photoshop.

I would love to help you discover your own family story.
